Smoking continues to be the primary聽 of lung cancer聽cases, but can smoking just one cigarette have an adverse effect on your well-being?
Yes, according to聽 a 704-page report from the United States Surgeon General鈥檚 office. Because tobacco has thousands of addictive chemicals that cause cancer, even a whiff of tobacco can adversely affect the body, the report found.
The following is a time line that illustrates how smoking affects your body.
If you鈥檙e a nonsmoker, don鈥檛 start. If you smoke regularly or just occasionally, if you should get screened for lung cancer.
