鈥淲hen I鈥檓 not working, I am usually attending my son鈥檚 basketball games or my daughter鈥檚 volleyball games. I also enjoy walking our family dog, Charley, and baking loaves of sourdough.鈥
鈥淚 would like to travel to the continent of Africa, maybe Ghana or South Africa. Trips to Italy and Japan are also near the top of my list.鈥
鈥淚 try to live by this Maya Angelou quote: 鈥業鈥檝e learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.鈥欌
鈥淲hen I was a kid, I loved school and my teachers, so I thought I may want to be a teacher. In high school, I wanted to be an interior designer. When I entered college, I was a radio-TV-film major! During my first semester of college, I discovered audiology, and the rest is history.鈥
鈥淲hen I was first introduced to the communication sciences and disorders major during my freshman year of college, my first thought was, 鈥楽peech pathology and audiology are very interesting.鈥 My second thought was, 鈥榃ow, I could help a lot of people in these fields!鈥
I ultimately chose to become an audiologist because of the significant impact that audiologists have on their patients鈥 daily lives. Being able to restore my patients鈥 hearing and improve their lives and relationships via hearing aids and cochlear implants brings me joy on a daily basis.鈥
鈥淚 am inspired by all of my past and current patients. It鈥檚 deeply rewarding when patients say they were pleased with the services I provided, that I helped improve their lives or that they are recommending me to a friend. I love to hear that my patients are happy with their hearing aids or cochlear implants. When my patients are happy, I鈥檓 happy.鈥
鈥淚 would describe my approach as friendly, funny when appropriate, easygoing and empathetic. I try to put my patients at ease.鈥
鈥淚n my lifetime, I would love to see scientists figure out how to regrow the hair cells in the cochlea. This would help prevent patients from losing their hearing as they age.鈥
鈥淭he audiology division is focused on patient-centered care, and we align our protocols with research-based best practices for our field.
I also love the team spirit here at Keck Medicine. I appreciate that everyone, in every specialty, is working hard to provide the best care for our patients.鈥
