Dr.聽Cherfane聽is an internal medicine provider with聽喵咪社区 who specializes in聽treating gastrointestinal disorders, including inflammatory bowel diseases聽like聽Crohn鈥檚 disease,聽ulcerative colitis, pouch disorders, celiac聽disease聽and other immune diseases of the聽gastrointestinal聽tract.聽聽

Looking back on her childhood dream:聽

鈥淚 wanted to be a schoolteacher 鈥� and I loved to role play with my dolls!鈥� 

Today, she loves teaching and raising her own children.聽

鈥淚 love to spend time playing with my four kids and watching them grow.鈥� 

Medicine runs in her family.聽

鈥淚 was born into a family with two parents who are pharmacists and who practice as primary care doctors in an underserved country. This drew me to a career in health care from a very young age.鈥� 

She looks聽to聽her own mother for inspiration.聽

鈥淢y biggest role model growing up was my mom because she is a hardworking woman and a dedicated mother who is able to balance her career and family.鈥� 

Europe is her favorite travel destination and the site of her favorite movie.聽

鈥淢y favorite movie is 鈥楲a Vita 猫 Bella,鈥� or 鈥楲ife Is Beautiful,鈥� the 1997 Italian film directed by Roberto Benigni that celebrates the beauty of the human spirit.鈥� 

Other countries are also on聽her聽bucket list.聽

鈥淥ne day, I鈥檇 love to travel to Japan.鈥� 

She is also an avid runner.聽

鈥淚 love to run because it gives me a feeling of freedom and challenges me. One day, I hope to run a marathon.鈥� 

She also聽loves聽cuisine.聽

鈥淚f I could trade careers with anyone in the world, I would work for the Michelin Guide and sample delicious dishes in top-rated restaurants around the world. Barring that, one of my goals is to take cooking classes.鈥� 

What would people be surprised to learn about her?聽

鈥淚 speak French, Arabic and English. In fact, I did most of my studies, including at medical school, in French.鈥�

鈥淭he quality of care is among the best I have seen, with excellent providers who are also genuinely kind human beings who truly care. I appreciate that I can provide the best care for my patients without any pressure regarding the time I spend with them, the workup I need to do or the choice of the most appropriate therapy.鈥� 

The best piece of advice聽she鈥檚聽ever received?聽

鈥淚 love the saying 鈥業nsanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting di铿�erent results.鈥� Although often misattributed to Albert Einstein, it鈥檚 still great advice no matter what.鈥�
