Department of Surgery Fellowships and Residencies

The Department of Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of ß÷ßäÉçÇø has a long history of training excellent clinical surgeons and the diversity of the training experience is a hallmark of its programs.

By spending significant time training at different sites, residents obtain a spectrum of experience. The culmination of this training occurs during the chief resident year, predominately spent at the Los Angeles County+ß÷ßäÉçÇø Medical Center. It’s here, while under supervision, that residents find themselves responsible for running a variety of surgical services. The surgical pathology, severity of disease and degree of autonomy that the residents experience during this program truly makes it one-of-a-kind.

At the completion of clinical training, graduating residents have the confidence to handle any clinical situation, as well as an in-depth understanding of what it takes to be a medical leader.
